Tree bodyguards is a citizen science project associating scientists, schoolchildren and their teachers in the search of the mechanisms driving the effect of climate on oak resistance to insect herbivores at European scale. Scientists and schoolchildren will install fake caterpillars in oak trees to evaluate the activity of caterpillars' enemies.

They will collect oak leaves and return them to researchers at INRAE (Bordeaux, France) who will use molecular tools and chemical analyses to characterise the diversity of insect herbivores attacking oaks as well as anti-herbivore chemical defenses in oak leaves.

For sake of standardization, we will provide the material necessary to install caterpillars in oaks, and to return caterpillars and oak leaves to us. For this purpose, we need to collect your physical and email addresses. Your personal data may be shared with the scientists involved in the project to facilitate its management. They will not be shared with any third party without your consent. You can ask us to delete your personal data at any time by sending an e-mail to bastien·castagneyrol@inrae·fr. However, this will cancel your participation in the project.
